'New Life' by Martin Day
In the past I called you God 'coss I didn't know your name.
You were sat on the mountain top, and I was on the plain.
You went your way. I didn't care.
I didn't think you answered prayer.
We both lived in different worlds and played at different games.I heard that Jesus was your son, and had earned the right to live.
He came from the Lord of Life with a pardon he could give.
Before the Judge he took my place,
My punishment, and my disgrace.
I realised, I owed Him my life, which was all that I could give.I've got a new life before me.
What's in the past won't count against me.
New life before me.
Now I live my life in You.
You gave your life to restore me,
When I rebelled and kicked against you.
Upwards you bore me.
Now I'll build my life on you.Discovering your love for me fills me with new confidence.
You know all my thoughts, so I can drop the old pretence..
You care for me. I have no fear.
I know your Spirit's living here.
Now that I've been born anew, let my new life commence.© M Day 01-Sep-1983
